Had enough of the wet and unsettled weather? It's a bit too
early to be certain but it looks likely that there is more settled
weather ahead of us next week, with a high pressure likely to
extend over the UK.
And the reason for this settled weather? Once again, it's down
to the jetstream. Recently and ordinarily, the jetstream moves
directly from East to West towards the UK and acts like a conveyor
belt, pushing weather systems in our direction and over the
country, rapidly and often, with only brief gaps inbetween.
Next week, the jetstream is likely to take a more indirect path
towards us, moving first to the North and then to the south and so
on, over the Atlantic. As a result, it takes longer for the weather
systems to reach us and allows particular types of weather, eg.
settled, to persist for longer, on arrival. The more settled
weather should move to the north of the country firsof all before
slowly making it's way down to the south next week.
