More showers ahead of us

There are more showers ahead of us during the next few days in Wales. A few of them heavy and possibly thundery, with hail. Only a few brighter moments.

Anyway, I took full advantage of the wonderful weather yesterday and I went walking around the village and on the beaches collecting rubbish. And while I was walking, I came across a group of Welsh speaking ramblers....a bit embarrasing! And while I was driving to the tip with the refuse bags I came across a wonderful rape seed oil field. There are some photos on my facebook page.

Heavy rain today of course, and totally different to yesterday (the radar image is full of blues and greens and yellows and a few bright pink bits - the heavy rain) although having said that, I`m looking outside at the moment and the sun is shining in Llanelli!! Typical April weather.

April showers!

I'm sure that we have all heard of April showers and I'm sure that you are all aware of the real mixture - showers and sunny spells - that's in store for us over the next few days. But what's responsible for that kind of weather? Well, as the winds converge along the surface and are blown upwards, and as the air rises into the atmosphere, everything cools and leads to clouds and showers, which of course, falls to the ground. And either side of that air that rises, there is air that falls and becomes warmer, and so any moisture dissolves and leads to sunny spells. So it's the difference between the air that rises and the air that falls, put simply, that is responsible for this mixed bag of weather.

And of course, today and for the rest of the week, there is colder air moving towards Wales from the North West and this clashes with warmer air that lies in the South East of Britain, and surprise surprise, leads to unsettled and changeable weather!. That is, rain!!

After driving in that terrible rain yesterday, it is soooooo nice to see the sunshine today, although as I said, tomorrow and Thursday and Friday look very unsettled and mixed. I'm going to my brother in law's wedding in Nottingham tomorrow and we are treating it like our mini Easter holiday.

A wet bank holiday Monday

Yes, another wet and windy and miserable washout of a bank holiday! Keep warm and dry and let us know how the rain is likely to affect your event, by Facebook or Twitter or e mail.

More sunny weather?

So.....is that the end of the sunny weather? Wel at the moment, and thinking of how the snow is causing all kinds of problems in Scotland and Northern England, it certainly looks like it! Although the temperature is likely to rise again by the end of the week with more settled weather returning.

Of course, this wintry weather is not too unusual this time of year. And it's the colder air, moving down from the North and clashing with milder air, that's responsible for the wintry weather, with the Arctic winds contributing! And the poor jet stream has no idea what's going on!

Anyway, it was a cloudy morning when I walked Jac the dog this morning in Ogmore. By now, although feeling colder, it's sunny in the capital here at least, although there are likely to be wintry showers in the east and Mid Wales today, tonight and tomorrow. Keep an eye on our daily bulletins and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest information.

I'll be presenting this weekend and I'll be giving you as much information as possible about the next few days.
