HAPPY EASTER

Happy Easter

Good news, the dry and sunny weather is here to stay for the Easter weekend. The temperature has already reached a high of 23°C in Trawscoed, Ceredigion this afternoon and the warm weather will remain for bank holiday weekend. However, the high temperatures may trigger isolated heavy and thundery showers but on the whole there will be plenty of dry weather. I'm working tomorrow but looking forward to have a few days off in north Pembrokeshire. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

62 tornados!!

62 tornados have caused devestation in the US, Oklahoma, Alabama, North Carolina and Mississippi, killing 34 people and wreaking havoc. 62 is the highest number of tornados since 1984.

And the temperature around the UK today is higher than the temperature on the Continent and in Africa. Barcelona:17C. Athens:12C. Johannesburg:15C. Although compared to the 34C in Bangkok, the 20C in Wales today is positively wintry!

London Marathon - Dry and fine

It's that time of the year again...this weekend in April that always brings back fond memories for me...it's London Marathon weekend!! The one and only time I ran the race was back in 2004. The training was torture...running the Vale of Glamorgan's frosty country lanes at the break of dawn but the race itself was a wonderful experience that'll never be forgotten. My finishing was respectable and I felt very fortunate to be able to finish without much pain. Never again! But every time I see the race on TV I get a slight urge to give it another go. It should be dry and fine there this year too ...not too warm in the cool breeze, temperatures will be around 17C ... perfect! Good luck to everyone running ... the only 'tip' that I could give you is to use the toilets in the pubs along the way...long queues in the official ones!

Clever or a waste of time?

4 weeks until I go to Peru and Machu Picchu! And I've got to start walking on a daily basis from now on!

Talking of Peru, I've just read an article in the Weather Club magazine about a scientist from that country who has come up with an idea to combat climate change - By painting or whitewashing the mountains of the Andes, allowing the sun's energy and rays to reflect further back into the atmosphere, thus reducing the extent to which the earth's surface is warmed. And the World Bank have given him $200,000 for the idea!!

Crazy or clever? A waste of time or an original idea that could work? Who knows?!

Rain

After the driest March we've seen for ages, this rain is quite a shock! There's even a weather warning for the heavy rain in the West of Scotland at the moment! But I needed some rain for my lawn and my garden and the good news is that the rain will clear tonight and tomorrow morning and we are likely to see some good dry and sunny weather over the next few days. I'm doing a car boot sale on Sunday morning to raise money for Velindre cancer centre so I'm hoping that people will come along to enjoy the sunshine.

It's mild!

Do you all think that it's mild today? I've just been shopping in Llanelli and I'm walking around in a t-shirt! There is rain on the way tonight and tomorrow but we should be seeing much better weather by Wednesday and Thursday.

I received an e-mail from the British Embassy in Peru today. There's an article on their website about my trip to Machu Picchu. http://ukinperu.fco.gov.uk/en/news/?view=News&id=568064082. Surprise!

A disappointing April on the way?

After the driest March since 1944 and after we enjoyed 60% more sunshine than usual I think we were all looking forward to an early summer. The flowers are starting to bloom in the garden and many gardeners have started planting crops in earnest.

But don't get too excited...April is not promising much at the moment. A much cooler and showery week ahead with no sign of any prolonged dry weather over the coming months. You can leave the patio furniture in the shed for now! Further updates here throughout the month.....
