record of the rainfall in his garden at Llanfaglan (near
Caernarfon) -

compared to the 33mm that fell last year.

March felt unusually summery this year
and on a whole a dry and fine month. John Jones's rainfall

The Pollen season falls into 3 sections:
TREE POLLEN: Late March - Mid May
GRASS POLLEN: Mid May - July
WEED POLLEN: Late June - September
Currently, the TREE POLLEN levels are HIGH and
this pattern will continue for the next few days.

An old Welsh saying notes that if there's fog in
March, May will be a cold. Is this true? We had fog
overnight and this morning on the hills? It will yet again form on
the hills and coasts tonight and overnight.

We've recieved October's rainfall record from John Jones's
unofficial weather station in Pelcomb, Haverfordwest;
October 2011 total - 179.9mm
Average - (2000/2011) - 153.2mm
Wettest October - 2005 - 227.5mm
Driest October - 2007 - 58.5mm
Most of the rain fell during three days in
October, the 22nd to the 24th. 121.5mm of rain
fell.
Monday the 24th of October was very wet - 59mm of rain
fell. Although this was not the wettest day of the
century.
On October the 11th 2005 we had 114mm of rain (4.5
inches)

July gathering the rainfall record. Here's how he saw the rain
during July;

Average Rainfall (2000/2011) - 102.2mm
Driest - 2002 - 37.5mm
Wettest - 2008 - 236mm
So from year to year we see a big difference in the
Rainfall total even during the Summer months.

Welsh Saying of the day!
'Daw Mawrth i mewn fel oen ac allan fel
llew'. This saying is
perfect for today as it says that March came in as a lamb and
out as a lion. After a promising start we
had nice and fine weather but March is ending on
a windy and miserable note. Gusts of over 50mph have been
recorded in numerous places around Wales this morning at 10.00am;
Aberdaron - 57mph, Lake Vyrnwy - 59mph, Capel Curig - 53 mph and
Aberporth - 55mph.
