Take a look at John Jones's rainfall record below. . . While on the other side of the country Ifor Williams has also been keeping a record of the rainfall in his garden at Llanfaglan (near Caernarfon) -

April 2012 rainfall at Llanfaglan: 86.8mm, compared to the 33mm that fell last year.

After a very wet April, here's John Jones's rainfall record for the month. The information is gathered in his unofficial weather station in Pelcomb, Haverfordwest;

Four times wetter than last year (30.5mm). April 2011 was the driest.

March felt unusually summery this year and on a whole a dry and fine month. John Jones's rainfall record from his unofficial weather station in Pelcomb, Haverfordwest reflects this;

A dry March - 31.0mm
20 days was completely dry
Average rainfall of the century (2000/2012) - 80mm
Driest March of the century (2000/2012) - 2000 - 29mm
Wettest March of the century (2000/2012) - 2006 - 2010 and 132.5mm - 131.5mm

The Pollen season falls into 3 sections:

TREE POLLEN: Late March - Mid May

GRASS POLLEN: Mid May - July
WEED POLLEN: Late June - September

Currently, the TREE POLLEN levels are HIGH and this pattern will continue for the next few days.

An old Welsh saying notes that if there's fog in March, May will be a cold. Is this true? We had fog overnight and this morning on the hills? It will yet again form on the hills and coasts tonight and overnight.

Happy St. David's Day! We've recieved John Jones's monthly rainfall record! Here's February's rainfall;

Lower than the average which is - 85.5mm

Wettest February - 2000 - 135.5mm

Driest February - 2009 - 40.5mm

It's been a mild winter and so far I haven't seen any snow!

November has been a relatively dry month, October was very wet in comparison.

Driest November - 2007 - 72.5mm

2011 was the third driest year of this century.

We've recieved October's rainfall record from John Jones's unofficial weather station in Pelcomb, Haverfordwest;

October 2011 total - 179.9mm

Average -  (2000/2011) - 153.2mm

Wettest October - 2005 - 227.5mm

Driest October - 2007 - 58.5mm

Most of the rain fell during three days in October, the 22nd to the 24th. 121.5mm of rain fell.

Monday the 24th of October was very wet - 59mm of rain fell. Although this was not the wettest day of the century.

On October the 11th 2005 we had 114mm of rain (4.5 inches)

John Jones for Haverfordwest has been busy yet again during July gathering the rainfall record. Here's how he saw the rain during July;

July 2011 Rainfall;

Total Rainfall - 66.5mm

Average Rainfall (2000/2011) - 102.2mm

Driest - 2002 - 37.5mm

Wettest - 2008 - 236mm

So from year to year we see a big difference in the Rainfall total even during the Summer months.

After a showery June, we've received the Rainfall Record for this month from John Jones, Pelcomb in Haverfordwest. You'll see that May was a much drier month!

Driest - 2006 - 23.5mm

Total Rainfall for the first six month of 2011 - 465.5mm (18.3 inches)

'Daw Mawrth i mewn fel oen ac allan fel llew'. This saying is perfect for today as it says that March came in as a lamb and out as a lion. After a promising start we had nice and fine weather but March is ending on a windy and miserable note. Gusts of over 50mph have been recorded in numerous places around Wales this morning at 10.00am; Aberdaron - 57mph, Lake Vyrnwy - 59mph, Capel Curig - 53 mph and Aberporth - 55mph.
